HVAC Service Manager
Location: New Orleans/Metairie Area, LA
Overview
We are Mechanical Concepts LLC, an established equipment distribution company expanding into the New Orleans / Metairie market. This is a ground-floor opportunity to join a growing division and play a direct role in building the business.
We are looking for a driven, high-caliber individual who is ready to take ownership of the commercial HVAC service department and grow within the company. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and operational responsibility, offering a strong career path as the division continues to expand.
In this role, you will lead the daily operations of the service team, working with commercial and industrial HVAC systems while driving performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the commercial HVAC service department
- Schedule, dispatch, and monitor service technicians to optimize efficiency
- Ensure all service calls, maintenance agreements, and repair projects are completed on time and within budget
- Monitor key performance indicators, including revenue, gross margin, billable hours, and callback rates
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor service technicians and support staff
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to improve productivity and technical skills
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
- Facilitate ongoing technical training and certifications
Customer Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients
- Address escalated service issues and ensure timely resolution
- Conduct site visits when necessary to ensure service quality and customer satisfaction
- Support sales efforts by identifying additional service or replacement opportunities
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Develop and manage departmental budgets
- Review and approve proposals, quotes, and service agreements
- Monitor inventory, parts procurement, and vendor relationships
- Ensure accurate documentation of work orders, invoices, and service reports
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC service
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including RTUs, chillers, boilers, VRF/VRV systems, and building automation systems (BAS)
- Proficiency in service management software and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills
- Solid financial acumen and understanding of service department profitability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field preferred
- EPA Certification required
- NATE Certification preferred
- OSHA 10 & 30 beneficial

Compensation and Benefits

- Additional PTO – 4 hours per month after 90 days

Working Conditions
This role combines office-based work with field visits to commercial job sites. After-hours support for emergency service situations may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms or on rooftops as needed.
