Challenge
Glenwood Regional Medical Center relies on steam from the central plant boilers to provide humidity to operating rooms during the winter months, ensuring proper environmental conditions for safe surgical procedures. Steam is also critical for sterilizing surgical instruments. When the hospital’s primary steam boiler began developing tube leaks, it threatened the reliability of these essential systems and required immediate attention.
Solution
To ensure hospital operations continued without disruption, backup steam was introduced to maintain critical services such as operating room humidity control and instrument sterilization.
