Building Automation Systems (BAS) – Controls Technician

Overview
Mechanical Concepts LLC is seeking a BAS Controls Technician to support the startup, commissioning, programming, and service of building automation and DDC systems.
This role is ideal for someone who has a strong technical foundation, can work independently in the field, and takes pride in delivering quality work and high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will work with commercial HVAC controls and automation systems, including the Niagara Tridium platform, ensuring systems are installed, programmed, tested, and operating properly at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform startup and commissioning of building automation and controls systems
- Startup, test, and modify systems within the Niagara Tridium platform
- Install, program, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair DDC hardware and software at customer locations
- Interpret controls drawings, plans, and sequences of operation
- Identify and resolve system issues in the field
- Communicate effectively with customers and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Support system performance, functionality, and proper operation during project startup and service work
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a controls technician or in a similar BAS/DDC role
- Ability to interpret controls drawings, plans, and sequences of operation
- Experience with building automation systems and DDC controls
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and internal teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage field responsibilities effectively
Preferred Education (Not Required)
- Associates degree or technical training in HVAC, Electrical, controls or a related field.
- Relevant certifications or manufacturer training (Niagara, JCI, Siemens, etc.)
- Tridium Niagara certification

Work Environment
